Beck's album, entitled, "Morning Phase," has won Album of the Year at the 2015 Grammy Awards, as reported by The Guardian. The American musician defeated Ed Sheeran's "X", Pharrell's "G.I.R.L.", Sam Smith's "In the Lonely Hour", and Beyonce's self-titled album.
However, MTV has reported that Beck Hansen was pretty much shell-shocked when Prince called out his name as the winner for the 2015 Album of the Year. His mellow gold classic album was critically praised by many and clearly deserved to be in the same category as the other artists who also contended for the title that he got this year.
Still, it was clear that when he heard his name, he and his wife, Marissa Ribisi, were very shocked. He walked to the stage and was obviously stunned about winning the award and then shook hands with Pharrell.
Suddenly, Kanye West, in his signature Beyonce-should-win fashion for every music awards, rushed to the stage and acted like he was going to say something about Bey deserving the Album of the Year award. She had already won three awards earlier that night, but West thinks that the "Crazy in Love" singer should get the most coveted win of the night.
Thankfully, he thought better of it and jumped off the stage, making Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z, laugh the incident off. However, West was not laughing when the show was over. He ranted that Bey should have won the award.
"I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us," he said during the after-show of E! "We ain't gonna play with them no more. And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should've given his award to Beyonce."
"Because when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in their face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you're disrespectful to inspiration," West added, according to Fox News.
